STAR WARS - The Rise Of Skywalker / Exegol Arena

Some more work done for StarWars IX : The Rise Of Skywalker as a senior Environment Generalist during my time at ILM Vancouver.
Spoiler Alert !
At the end of the movie, Rey is destroying darth Sidious which results in quite a a mess in Exegol's arena.

On this sequence my job was first to create highres procedural model of grandstands, hero ground, and consider the destruction into the model. But also matching the textures to the elements in the plate.

Also destroyed The ceilling for some shots.

Then alongside with @Mickael Riciotti and @Stanislaw Marek we destroyed and upgrades a lot of assets (statues, walls, debris...) coming from the "clean" arena model, to dress the shots in clarisse.

To help on this sequence I developed a workflow to break assets, sculpting upres, UV and texture this assets consistantly. My generalist friends then could re-use this workflow for their own model, tweak it if needed.
Didn't work on set dressing, lighting, comp side of this sequence. Big shout out to Mickael and Stan for the final look !

That was definitely a lot of fun working on this sequence with such a small awesome team at ILM Vancouver and Jeffrey De Guzman generalist Supervision. Don't miss his interview about ILM Vancouver Clarisse workflow https://youtu.be/rha_iiszdtw

Breakdown of destroyed Arena - Procedural grandstands model/destruction/textures. Procedural ground model/destruction/textures, ceilling destruction/textures. Various asset model upres/texture support with Mickael Riciotti and Stanislaw Marek.

We don't see the grandstands too much in the end, but was fun figuring out a way to generate such a large destroyed environment.

Hero ground, procedural model and fracturing to match concept art. Support on statues model upres and texturing.

Procedural destruction and textures of the arena ceiling. Lighting in Isotropix clarisse + pre-comp

Helped in figuring out a gen workflow to fracture statues, upres the model, automate UVs and develop texture/shaders to match elements of the plate . My generalist friends could re-use or tweak this workflow if needed.
